SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - Overland Park, KS
True North Hotel Group, an award-winning management and development company, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. This family-owned organization has a uniquely remarkable culture and is conveniently headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.
Like to get out of the office occasionally? Along with some great job responsibilities, this position will have the opportunity to travel a few times a year to work with our properties! We have properties in several states across the Country.

So, what are the role and requirements? Looking for an individual who has high interest in managing financial statements for multiple hotels across the nation.
A day in the life of a Senior Accountant includes:
Coordinating and communicating with hotel accounting staff to gather all financial information needed to prepare monthly financial statements for multiple hotels.
Reviewing and posting invoices entered by hotel accounting staff to ensure completeness and accuracy. Communicating with hotel accounting staff when issues arise.
Preparing all monthly closing journal entries: payroll, accruals, recurring, and adjusting.
Preparing all balance sheet reconciliation schedules: prepaid, accruals, etc.
Preparing sales tax/occupancy tax schedules used to file monthly/quarterly returns.
Coordinating weekly check runs with Accounts Payable. Determine which invoices are to be processed by reviewing cash flow projection, accounts payable aging report, and communicate with hotel accounting staff.
Reviewing monthly financial statements for accuracy and completeness. Communicate with hotel accounting staff to obtain information required to complete the statements.
Performing compliance reviews by visiting the hotels and verifying procedures are being performed accurately by the hotel staff.
Providing analytical, supplemental, and other data as requested by hotel and corporate staff.
Assisting with additional duties always!
What qualifications should an applicant possess?
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent is necessary.
Minimum three years of experience in accounting/finance environment is vital.
In-depth knowledge of Excel and Word.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Team oriented person who can focus on the detail.
Efficient and well organized.
Knowledge and experience with hotel accounting principles is a huge bonus!
