Overland Park, KS – Dec. 1, 2016 – True North Hotel Group today announced that Lisa Brady and Keri Greer have been appointed general manager and director of sales, respectively, for Fishkill, New York's first dual-branded hotel, the 91-suite Residence Inn and 75-suite SpringHill Suites, slated to open under one roof on December 15.

Sharing an address at 500 Westage Business Center Drive in Fishkill, the hotels will also share an indoor swimming pool, outdoor fire pit, putting green and a fitness center as well as 1,581 square feet of meeting space to accommodate functions of up to 60 people. Complimentary breakfast and free Wi-Fi will be amenities offered to all hotel guests.

Lisa Brady, general manager, has built her 17-year hospitality career in the northeast, serving in both sales and operations management positions with Marriott and Hilton-branded hotels. Most recently, she was general manager for seven years at the Danbury, Connecticut, Hilton Garden Inn, leading the hotel to winning the brand's coveted Spirit to Serve Award. Notably, she also led a Courtyard by Marriott in Danbury, Connecticut, to the prestigious Alice Marriott Award for Community Service in 2007 while serving as general manager. Brady holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management from Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts.
 
Keri Greer, director of sales, has built her 16-year hospitality career in the northeast and western U.S., serving in sales positions with Hilton and IHG properties, a private golf club and travel agencies. Most recently, she was director of sales and marketing for two years at the Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel in New Windsor, New York. While with Hilton, she earned three sales certifications and won the Connie Pride Award of Merit. Greer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, New York.

“Our dual properties hold sentimental value for True North Hotel Group,” said Brady, explaining that the company's co-founder, former Fishkill resident, businessman and philanthropist Mike Dubroff, was one of the very first Residence Inn franchisees when he built the brand there in 1985 on the current Hawthorn Suites site. “Mike went on to build 20 more hotels around the country but maintained his corporate office inside the former Fishkill Residence Inn even after co-founding True North Hotel Group with Lew Wiens in 1998.”

Overland Park, KS – Aug. 16, 2016 – Michael Watson, named “Business Person of the Year” last spring by the Halifax, Va., County Chamber of Commerce and described as a “managerial mainstay” at the South Boston, Va., Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, has relocated his outstanding leadership skills to Kansas as newly-appointed general manager of the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Leavenworth.

Watson comes to Kansas with more than one coveted trophy in his professional awards case. Throughout his seven years as general manager of the South Boston hotel, Watson twice won True North Hotel Group's “Truest North Award”; was named a national Diamond General Manager by Marriott International, Inc.; and was named Employer of the Year by the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services. .

Yonkers, NY – September 15, 2015 – True North Hotel Group has begun construction on a new Marriott project –Courtyard by Marriott – in Yonkers, NY. Slated to open in early 2017, the 154 room property, located on Executive Blvd in the South Westchester Executive Office Park, will feature meeting space, a Bistro, bar, shuttle, a state of the art fitness room and a Starbucks.

Lebanon, NH – Aug. 25, 2015 – The 114-suite Residence Inn by Marriott in Hanover/Lebanon, N.H., has been re-acquired by an affiliate of Norwich Partners, effective August 14, 2015. True North Hotel Group will once again manage the hotel for Norwich Partners, which owned the hotel from September 2003 through 2006.  Seasoned True North Hotel Group management staff are in place at the Hanover/Lebanon Residence Inn.

Libby Cole, most recently assistant general manager of the Element and, before that, the Courtyard, is general manager; Andrea Agan is director of sales; Cheryl Melkonian has transferred from executive housekeeper at Courtyard to front office manager at the Residence Inn; and Ty Kulick, general manager of the Courtyard, has been promoted to area general manager for Marriott brands in Lebanon.


Fishkill, NY – July 7, 2015True North Hotel Group has begun construction on a dual-branded Marriott project – a 91-suite Residence Inn and a 75-suite SpringHill Suites – in Fishkill, NY. Slated to open in the summer of 2016, the properties are located in the Westage Business Center along I-84 in Dutchess County.

The two hotels will share a general manager, sales department and adjoining lobbies with an intersecting bar and communal area. The properties will also share a swimming pool, fitness center, and meeting space to accommodate smaller meetings and events. Overland Park, Kansas – August 6, 2014 – True North Hotel Group today announced the promotion of Maura Peeler, C.H.A., to regional vice president of operations.  

Peeler, who has a 15-year property management history with True North, most recently served as area general manager. In her new role, she will continue to work out of Devens, MA., overseeing seven properties in True North's northeast portfolio: the Devens SpringHill Suites, Devens Hilton Garden Inn, Devens Common Center, Westford Hampton Inn and Suites, Westford Residence Inn, Marlborough Residence Inn, and a new True North-managed hotel, the Nashua, N.H., Residence Inn by Marriott, which will open later this year.
Peeler, named a “40 Under 40” by the Worcester Business Journal in 2008, was awarded General Manager of the Year for SpringHill Suites by Marriott (2008); Diamond General Manager for Marriott (2008); and Opening General Manager of the Year for SpringHill Suites (2005). She is a board member for the Massachusetts Lodging Association and a member of the SpringHill Suites GM Advisory Council.

A native of Massachusetts, Peeler holds a bachelors degree in hospitality sales and meeting management and an associate degree in hotel and restaurant management, both from Johnson & Wales University.

Dan and his team held a reception attended by community leaders, True North, and guests – including one special extended-stay guest, SPC Derrick Franklin, who is going through physical rehab at a local hospital following military-duty injuries.

Jerry Culkin, C.H.A.,
has been promoted from a regional position to vice president of operations for True North Hotel Group. His equal balance of full- and limited-service hotels, combined with his expertise in opening new properties and developing people, form a strong foundation for his new role. Culkin's road to True North Hotel Group, which recruited him in 1999, came through Marriott management experiences, during which Culkin led his hotels to Community Service, President's Cup, Gold and Platinum Awards.
 
Joe Novak
has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing for True North Hotel Group. Novak, who joined the company in 2009 after serving for several years as vice president of sales for the Overland Park Convention and Visitors Bureau, is responsible for providing strategic sales direction to True North's portfolio of hotels and serving as the key sales liaison with owners and brand partners.
