Joe Andrick, C.H.A., Area General Manager, Central Region

Joe Andrick

The key to Joe Andrick’s reputation as an inspiring, intellectual and motivating leader is his ability to balance wise business decisions with a strong focus on doing what’s right for his associates and guests.

Andrick’s hotel career began in 1981 at the Yachtsman Resort Inn in Myrtle Beach, S.C.  Following a continuous upward spiral of promotions and moves with other ownership companies to hotels in Virginia, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska and California, he was recruited back to Kansas City by True North Hotel Group to open the Residence Inn by Marriott on the Plaza.  In 2010, Joe was promoted to his current position as Kansas City Area General Manager, and now oversees five True North-managed, Marriott-branded hotels: Residence Inn Country Club Plaza, Residence Inn Overland Park, SpringHill Suites Overland Park, Fairfield Inn Overland Park and Fairfield Inn Union Hill.

While serving concurrently as GM at the Residence Inn Country Club Plaza and chair of the Kansas City Hotel & Lodging Association, Joe set an example by stepping up to be the first small business to say “yes” to green.  His practice-what-you-preach initiative became a locally publicized project with The William Jewell College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team. Joe’s ability to inspire, along with a passion for “giving back” which he shares with True North Hotel Group, led to his 2010 appointment as True North’s “green guru.”  Through this iniative, Joe will drive the green efforts of all True North's hotels and have a positive influence on associate and hotel involvement in many communities.

Joe's stellar reputation throughout Kansas City’s business and civic communities resulted in two significant awards in 2010: the Greater Kansas City-Area Hotelier of the Year Award, presented by the Kansas City Hotel & Lodging Association; and the prestigious Pistilli Service Excellence Award, presented by the Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association for “consistently providing exemplary service, leadership and professionalism while taking care of our visitors.”

Joe is Scoutmaster of a Boy Scout troop that performs many community service projects for the needy in Kansas City and Blue Springs.  Some of their projects have benefited the Kansas City Salvation Army’s Baltimore House and Children’s Shelter for abused and neglected kids, Synergy Services of Kansas City Youth Homeless Shelter, and Blue Springs Community Service Food Pantry Drives.  He has also volunteered through his church at the Micah Ministries food kitchen and for an annual blanket drive benefiting Kansas City’s homeless population.
